Shara: Maybe, but he gets credit for seemingly everything else, even when people claim someone else should get the credit first (he's beaten back several plagiarism charges over the last few years)! Interesting about Avatar--it certainly seems like it gets people talking regardless of where they stand on the merits of the movie.

DI: Yeah, we didn't think it was bad--just not the genre defining film some have suggested, that's all. Good to hear from you, as always!

I went to see "Avatar". I couldn't rate it because I liked it despite not liking any single element of it. I don't like action movies. I thought the religion was ridiculous. I didn't like the scifi elements. And yet, I liked it. Probably a solid 6 out of 10.

I don't think Dan Brown gets credit for the whole Catholic church taking over the world genre.

I haven't seen the movie, but the thing I find interesting about Avatar is all the different ways people seem to be interpreting it. I heard on NPR that the government in China may be pushing theaters to pull the movie early because they feel it supports land owners against gov't forced evictions. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123541625
